The police reported on Thursday that 28 people were dead, when a bus slipped off the road and rolled down a mountain gorge in India’s northern Himachal Pradesh.
An official at the police control room in the state capital said, ” There were 35 to 36 people on the bus and 28 out of them died. ”
According to the police the bus was travelling between two towns in hill state when it skidded off the wet mountain road with hairpin bends and plunged into the 200 meter deep river gorge below.
The police reported, 6 injured people had been admitted to a local hospital.
In India, accident during the rainy and monsoon season are not uncommon, has a high rate of fatal traffic accidents.
The cost of this incident mostly are negligent driving and poorly maintained roads or vehicles. The accident occurred at Shaneri, near the town of Rampur about 120m south of shimla.
