Party mata: Lai Mohammad replies Saraki on ‘lopsided appointments’

All Progressives Congress, APC, led federal government has reacted and dismissed criticism that appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari were lopsided.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has said that Kwara state was marginalised in terms of appointments by the Buhari administration, he said this after his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.

He said, “The Federal Government appointed over 200 persons into juicy offices without allotting any slot to me or (Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara).

“Everything went to Katsina, Katsina, Lagos, Lagos. If not for the love I have for Nigeria, we would have scattered everything. They don’t want us in their party. They don’t like us in Kwara.”

However, Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information, on Sunday, told newsmen that the claim was false.

He disclosed that no fewer than 24 indigenes of Kwara were given federal appointments of which he [Mohammed] only recommended two, while the Senate President recommended 20.

On those complaining of not being given juicy appointment, the minister said that people complaining were not ready to serve and turn things around but eyeing what to steal.

“It is not true that a particular part of the country is being favoured against the other.

“I challenge anybody to go to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and take out the list of appointees under this adminstration.

“You will be surprised that we have been fair to all,” Mohammed noted.
