DSS DG: Sen. Ben Bruce queries Buhari for replacing a southerner with northerner as new DSS DG

The Senator representing Bayelsa East senatorial district in National Assembly, Ben Murray-Bruce, has queried President Muhammadu Buhari’s latest appointment of new Director-General of Department of State Security, DSS.

Magaji replaces Matthew Seiyeifa, who is a native of Bayelsa State, and who has been operating in acting capacity since Lawal Daura was sacked few months back.

In a reaction to the development, Ben-Bruce took to his Twitter handle saying, I wondered why Seiyefa, who was the only Southerner heading an intelligence agency was replaced by a Northerner.

His tweets, “Seiyefa was the only Southerner heading an Intelligence agency. He was competent and loyal.

“In the interest of federal character and North South balance, [email protected] should have retained him. Bichi may be competent, but how can all Intelligence be headed by Northerners?”

Recall that Pres. Buhari made this known through his Spokesman, Garba Shehu, in statement that he had appointed Yusuf Magaji Bichi as the new Director General of the security agency, (DSS), as reported.
