Good to know: Here is why we are interested in Nigeria’s democracy – US reveals

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Stuart Symington has disclosed why the US is interested in matters challenging Nigeria’s democracy.

The Ambassador on Monday revealed that the U.S is interested in democracy of Nigeria because “whatever happens to Nigeria affects the world.”

Symington, however, advised Nigerians to stand up and defend democracy, stressing that everything lies only in the hands of Nigerians.

This was made known in a post released by U.S Embassy on its official Twitter handle.

The post read, “Why does the United States support Nigeria’s democracy? Because what happens in Nigeria will affect the world and it depends on you. It depends on every Nigerian,” Stuart Symington.

But the Federal Government in a statement issued by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said such statement are capable of creating apprehension, distrust among citizens or undermining the transparency and acceptability of outcomes of the nation’s electoral process.
