US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, spoke with Presidential Candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on Friday.
According to Daily Post, the Wazirin Adamawa made the disclosure on Twitter.
He said the official spoke on the general elections and the need for a credible process.
Atiku said: “Earlier today I received a call from US Secretary of State, @SecPompeo, who reaffirmed the international community’s commitment to free and fair elections in Nigeria. Wishing you all a peaceful elections, wherever you are. God bless Nigeria”.
Meanwhile, Atiku has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s national broadcast.
Atiku described the president as a failed steward who has consistently distorted and twisted facts and events in a manner that has continued to rubbish office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We see President Muhammadu Buhari’s attack on the opposition in his nationwide broadcast Thursday night as part of the many gaffes which have come to define last days of the Buhari Presidency, rather than an address to be taken seriously by Nigerians,” Atiku said in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Publication, Mr. Phrank Shaibu.
