PDP presidential candidate talks on high rate of suicide in Nigeria

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have lamented over the high rate of suicide in the country.

He on Tuesday urged Nigerian parents and communities at large to look out for early signs of depression in the lives of young people.

Atiku said, paying close attention will help control the suicide rate in Nigeria.

Atiku wrote on his Twitter page, “The rate of suicide among our youth is worrisome. I believe that as parents and community, we need to pay close attention for early signs of depression among our young people, particularly in this depressing times.”

Just few days back, there have being reports of suicide cases in the country, like the one that happened in Abuja, one Michael Arowosaiye, following financial issues and the inability to pay his house rent.
