The governor of Jigawa state, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has expressed surprise over the arrest of 123 motorcyclists, also called okada riders by the State Government in Lagos.
The made this known in a statement released by his Personal Secretary, Auwalu D. Sankara, on Saturday, said state government had already contacted the Lagos State Government over the unlawful arrest of 123 okada riders who are indigenes of Jigawa state.
“After getting in touch with the officials of the Lagos state government, Governor Badaru, who was not in the country also spoke to the All Progressives Congress, APC, leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who assured of their unconditional release,” he said.
Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Task Force had on Friday intercepted a truck with registration number HDJ 680 XA loaded with 48 motorcycles and arrested 123 persons coming from Jigawa State.
Those arrested were been accused of illegal mass movement to Lagos state, some days back.
