Amotekun: Aregbesola confirmed as Ekiti board chair, Komolafe as commander

Ekiti State House of Assembly has confirmed Akin Aregbesola as the Chairman, Governing Board of the State Security Network, codenamed ‘Amotekun’.

B. J. Akin-Obasola, Idowu Ajayi and Major Fatai Fakorede (rtd) were confirmed as board members.

Similarly, Brig.-Gen. Joe Komolafe (rtd) was endorsed as the Corps Commander.

Governor Kayode Fayemi made the appointments one week ago.

NAN reports that the state lawmakers confirmed the appointees on Monday at plenary.

It was presided over by the Speaker, Funminiyi Afuye.

Aregbesola told newsmen that the board will need the assistance of everyone living in Ekiti towns and villages.

“We want them to volunteer information that will ensure the protection of lives and property. We are warning criminals, bandits and kidnappers in Ekiti to vacate now; there will be no more hiding place for them and their nefarious activities”, he added.

Aregbesola added that Amotekun was not a regional community policing.

He described the new security outfit as an intelligence-gathering agency that would work with the Police, DSS and other security agencies.
